Lysistrata Jones, a critically acclaimed musical comedy about cheerleaders who withhold sex from their boyfriends on the basketball team until the team ends its losing streak, made its Midwest premiere at Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) in Chicago.
Loosely based on Aristophanes’ ancient Greek antiwar comedy, the pop musical about “faith, hoops and chastity” made its debut on Broadway in 2011. Roosevelt’s Chicago College of Performing Arts (CCPA) was the first to license the show, which was staged by award-winning guest director and former Broadway actor Kurt Johns.
